Peanut’s Universe
Welcome to Peanut’s page. Here we will be (attempting) to update on the progress of the pregnancy and eventually what the little one is up to outside of the womb. Check back for pictures, info and even some questions that we have for those outside of our universe.

I gained weight! Not really an accomplishment I would ordinarily be proud of, but being 32 weeks pregnant changes your perspective a bit. I gained 4 pounds this month for a total gain of 5 pounds. Corey and I think that about half of that gain is actually in my ankles. I have suddenly been experiencing swelling that goes well beyond “cankle”. My sister-in-law actually referred to them as “tankles” because there was no definition from toe to calf. I’ve been trying to get my feet up more and I’m wearing compression stockings so they are a little better now, but not much!
Peanut is currently about 4 pounds (we’re guessing) and is staying very active. The general consensus is that I’m carrying high. I feel like Peanut is wedged underneath my lungs. I’ve developed a sore spot in my right ribs where either the head or butt is usually wedged, making it very difficult for me to bend forward. In spite of all this, I’m still feeling very good. Last month I was told I was dehydrated and a little anemic but I’ve been taking extra iron and extra fluids and think we’ve gotten ahead of that.
The baby shower is scheduled for this Saturday and it appears I’m going to get some awesome weather for that, so we are all excited. The entire family has pitched in to get everything planned so I think it’s going to be an awesome party!

All is going well in Peanut’s Universe. My last OB appointment was last week. Mom went with me because Corey had to work. This visit was the oh-so-fun glucose tolerance test. The drink wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone had told me but it still wasn’t pleasant. I should get the results the first of the week. Other than that, I’m a little dehydrated but I had suspected that before the appointment.
The baby is moving almost constantly and growing daily. In spite of the fact that I feel huge, I have apparently (and please don’t hate me, I’m ashamed enough as it is) gained only 1 pound through the course of the entire pregnancy. I actually lost a pound at this visit compared to my last. However, please remember that I was a curvy girl before I started this thing so I had a little extra to donate to Peanut. The OB assured me the baby is growing just fine and if anyone has seen the belly lately, they would agree.
I am in the process of registering for baby stuff. It isn’t as easy as I thought it would be though. I’ve never had a baby before so I’m having a hard time figuring out what I need. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

Because we have decided (much to the fury of many) to not find out whether Peanut is a he or a she, I have added a poll to see what the masses think. If you have a specific reason, please add that in as a comment, as well.
Also, many have asked us, “What are you going to name him or her?” Obviously, we aren’t going with Peanut. We have a list of names that we have been working on for several months and, again, to the fury of many decided to keep it to ourself. Our concern being inevitably someone will, intentionally or not, ruin every name we’ve thought of and we will have to start from scratch. It’s much harder to criticize a name when an adorable baby is attached to it. In spite of this, I am curious what others think the newest Wilson should be named. Add a comment and give us your suggestions. It may stimulate an idea for us or even solidify a name that we were already considering

My wife the techno-mother…very cool! By the way Androcles!

I am officially veto-ing Androcles. I think I will get a lot of support on that. What can I say, I’m preparing for my new role as SuperMom

Here is my advice to all parents searching for a name:
1) Pick a real first name. You should find a first name that people in this century and culture have used and will recognize as a name of a child and not the name of a new product from abroad. Also note that it is a FIRST name, not a last name. ex) Madison is a great name, which attached to the end of James to form the author of the Constitution.
2) Pick a name that is clearly male or female. If you go with a name that is starting to bridge genders, go with the gender it is rooted with. For instance, Sarah’s father’s name fits my system. For a boy! I know there are little girls with the name, but resist.
2) Spell the name correctly. You’re in luck because everyone knows how to spell Wilson. This is no reason to impede the child with a misspelled name. You child is going to be cute on their own merits. Modern parents try too hard to stimulant cuteness. This should be resisted.
3) Pick a relatively unique name. The drive to break 1 and 2 comes from wanting your child to be unique. However just like cuteness, your child is going to be unique because they are unique. It is more likely they are unique than cute, but there is great pride involved when someone tells you, “that is a great name.” If you are following 1 and 2 then following 5 will ensure this. I cannot tell you how you know if a name qualifies for this. It is a feeling and I will be happy to screen names.
My advice is look to the bible for boys names. Religious figures seem a little out of fashion and are perfect for my naming rules.
So, one might ask if I followed my own advice. I did, Jonah fits all three to a T. Has anyone else followed my advice? Nope. My sister misspelled her son’s name. My good friends from college picked some name you have never heard of. Jos’ cousin recently named her son a last name.

If you have a fair little girl, may she be just like my Sarah. If you have a bouncy baby boy, may he be just like my Ben. Either way my revenge is complete.
Family names are always good. How about Dorcas and Zollicoffer?

I like Zollicoffer, not so keen on Dorkus

Suggestion from Great Grandfather Hayes - Big Red, Jr. Yeah, 10 years with Corey and my grandfather still has no idea what his name is. I think he actually knows and just prefers the illusion that he doesn’t.

Ok, I have a few new name options, if it is a boy with red hair i sugest Chuck Norris. If it comes out half retarded then you can name it after me, if its completely retarded then name it after Daniel. If n its a girl then La-a is a good new one, Shalindria, Pim, Shanekwa. If its twins then my favorite is Walker and Texas Ranger “i dont care what anyone says I picked em out and wanted to use them long before Talladega Nights ever came out”, Boo, Karasena??? just heard that one the other day.
“This was written without the expressed written consent of anyone who actually gives a damn, its also meant entirely in fun and if you do use any of the names for-mentioned I will be enrolling both of you into AA class’s because I will know that you do in fact drink far too much.”
