11 years ago today I bullied Corey into asking me to be his girlfriend and the rest, as they say, is history. It seemed fitting that I should take some time today to recognize what an awesome husband I’ve got. I don’t think I’ve seen a more patient daddy-to-be. He’s put up with my food cravings or lack thereof, my strange and unpredictable moods, my whininess and even went so far as to help plan my baby shower just to make sure that I had the world’s best shower. He’s also been amazingly strong and supportive as I’ve dealt with the loss of my grandfather and we’ve embarked on buying a house and moving.
Over the last few weeks especially, he has continued to get more and more impressive in his feats as an amazing husband and future daddy and so I feel the need to brag on him continually just so the rest of the world knows how incredibly lucky I am.
So, Happy 11th Anniversary to the world’s most amazing, awesome, fantastic husband and soon-to-be world’s most amazing, sweet, fantastic daddy.
We got confirmation from our mortgage company yesterday - everything is a go and we close on Friday afternoon! While we are excited that everything has gone through, I think we both realized yesterday that we had never really thought it was going to work out. As Corey likes to put it, we’ve been waiting for the other Doc Marten to drop. Because of that pessimism, we are slightly less prepared than we should be at this stage in the game. We have exactly four boxes in our possession at this time. I also realized yesterday that neither of us had called our insurance guy to get insurance on the new house…oops. It also didn’t help our preparedness level that we drove to Texas and back over the weekend. Not that we regret going, Corey’s Grandma was ill and actually took a turn for the better after we all got there. We also got to spend some time with his side of the family, which was a lot of fun, especially hearing all the stories about when Corey was little and getting a glimpse of what I’m in for with the little one. However, the trip is 800+ miles and 14 hours each way so we are both drained now.
We spent last night trying to come up with a plan of attack for getting everything packed/moved/unpacked while working around the baby shower, my work schedule, his work schedule and that whole pesky baby thing. Anyone in possession of boxes, trucks and/or free time, we welcome any assistance available. We officially take possession on April 30th and plan on moving that weekend. Corey has the harder job. He has to build a pen for the dogs and build (technically rebuild) a shed in the backyard. Lucky for me, I’ve been forbidden to lift/carry anything so I’m in charge of getting things into and back out of boxes. Wish us luck!
We had our latest OB appointment Monday - check out Peanut’s Universe for the update.
